    Madonna isn’t the only huge star impressed with Fox’s hit show Glee: Paul McCartney sent a mixtape featuring his music to Glee creator Ryan Murphy in an attempt to convince Murphy to include some of the songs in the upcoming season. “I received some fantastic mixtapes from Paul McCartney a couple of weeks ago. I thought I was being punked!” Murphy said at yesterday’s Television Critics Association panel in Los Angeles. “It came out of blue in a package, handwritten, and it had two CDs and it said, ‘Hi Ryan, I hope you will consider some of these songs for Glee’ … I had heard that he is a fan of the show. I was gob-smacked … so of course we are going to do something with him.” Murphy didn’t elaborate whether he’d just feature McCartney’s music or recruit the Beatle for a guest appearance, Reuters reports.

    I wasn’t going to mention it… cuz I thought you might get down on me, but YES…. I have said this time and again to you, you have always been treated rather shabbily. I never understood it. Even Chad was rude. My god, you helped out there. I think it is a classic case of … factions! A little clique of wannabes. Well they didn’t hang too tight in the end. They faded with no glory.

  29. Did you go out and look at Jupiter tonight? With our telescope we could see the moons and the stripe/ring on it’s surface. It was amazing. Not until 2022 will you see it this bright again. I won’t be that bright again in 2022! xd!

  34. FYI: John Lennon’s 70th birthday is coming up~

    Eight of Lennon’s albums have been remastered and are being rereleased this week as single albums as well as two boxed sets. There is also a remixed version of Ono and Lennon’s 1980 “Double Fantasy” album.

    Other projects include a “Box of Vision” commemorative set featuring artwork and music; all-star concerts; a film about a young Lennon, “Nowhere Boy,” out this week; and a screening of the documentary “LennonNYC” in Central Park on his birthday.

    Ono will spend what would have been Lennon’s birthday in Iceland, celebrating with a concert by her Plastic Ono Band and the lighting of the Imagine Peace Tower in his honor. In a recent interview, the 77-year-old artist and peace activist talked about her mission to keep Lennon’s memory alive.

  35. The “Glee” cast has surpassed the Beatles for the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by a non-solo act.

    The cast of the Fox television musical series about a high school glee club has six debuts on the chart this week. That gives it a total of 75 songs on the chart to the Beatles’ 71.

    The show’s soundtrack got a boost after this week’s episode featuring the music of Britney Spears.

    Elvis Presley still leads overall with 108 songs to chart on the Hot 100. He’s followed by James Brown with 91, then “Glee.”

    The Beatles are sixth, behind Ray Charles and Aretha Franklin. Lil Wayne, Stevie Wonder and Jay-Z round out the Top 10.

  44. Astronomers say they’ve found oldest galaxy so far!
    The new galaxy doesn’t have a name — just a series of letters and numbers. They have called it “the high red-shift blob. NOW THAT S A NAME! “Because it takes so long for the light to travel such a vast time and distance, astronomers are seeing what the galaxy looked like 13.1 billion years ago at a time when it was quite young — maybe even as young as 100 million years old. It has very little of the carbon or metal that we see in more mature stars and is full of young, blue massive stars.
    What’s most interesting to astronomers is that this finding fits with theories about when the first stars and galaxies were born. This galaxy would have formed not too soon after them. We’re looking almost to the edge, almost within 100 million years of seeing the very first objects. One hundred million years to a human seems an awful long time, but in astronomical time periods, that’s nothing compared to the life of the stars.

  45. Heads up Dec. 28, Winfrey, McCartney join top Kennedy Center artists. It will be broadcast of CBS

    Alec Baldwin introduced the tribute for McCartney, 68, lamenting the singer’s “long and winding road” to a solo career, being forced to sing in stadiums and requiring police protection.

    “The National Institutes of Health called the epidemic Beatlemania,” Baldwin said. “There was no cure.”

    The former Beatle was making his second visit to Washington this year for a culture award. In June, he won the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song from the Library of Congress.

    “You know, great things just come in bundles,” he said.

    Gwen Stefani, dressed in a gray “Fab Four-style” pant suit, and her band, No Doubt, opened the musical set with “Hello, Goodbye.” Dave Grohl and Norah Jones sang “Maybe I’m Amazed.”

    In what’s perhaps a first, Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler performed an “Abbey Road” medley live. Show producer George Stevens Jr. said The Beatles never performed it live after the recording was made.

    “I’ve done a lot of things and been a lot of places,” Tyler said. “But I’ve never been prouder than I am standing right here at the corner of Pennsylvania Avenue and Abbey Road.”

    James Taylor and Mavis Staples closed out the show with “Let It Be” and “Hey Jude.” They had McCartney — and the president (Obama) — on their feet the entire time.

    I try to do my part, but I am older then all now, so, have not much in common. Yes, I am older than you…. but I don’t have a cane yet. haha
    You are about the only one that I have a common interest with. Squishy is good with her books, but I can only read so many books at leisure!! I find it hard to keep up with mandatory reading let alone grabbing a book for fun. I think after Christmas… my time on blogs is history. So let’s make the best of it now. :)

  51. actually when i wrote that i was half asleep, so that’s why it sounds so douchy lol sorry I try to save my best stuff for this site, but recently I can’t think of anything that would be anything other than an “update”, which i don’t enjoy making those kind of posts. I like to tell stories, so I’ve been waiting for a story to come along. The accident happened after I made that comment. lol

    Christmas break is here, school is done, now I can dedicate time to this site. So please don’t get discouraged by my past pessimism!
